Winchelsea Beach village is situated almost on the beach itself. It is a quiet area, unlike many seaside towns in the UK. There are two pubs,  of which, The Ship, a couple of minutes from the house, is well worth visiting just for its Italian gaonden - complete with beach erhuts - and excellent food. It also has a delicious deli and coffee shop. On the way to Rye there is a family run shop, selling local fish and game. Winchelsea Beach seems to have its own climate, often being sunny and warm when even just 10 miles away it is raining! The whole area has  many interesting places to visit. The picture -book moated castle at Bodiam is ideal for a picnic. You could even visit France for the day, Eurotunnel from Folkestone or a ferry from Dover offer cheap day trips.  Romney Marsh, the  quaint villages of Kent and Sussex, smugglers haunts in historic Hastings and Rye, the long beaches and the bird reserves at Rye and Dungeness or the cliff walks at Fairlight –are there to suit all tastes whatever your interests.
